[Killer Whale – God of the Deep Sea –]
The Ainu people worship the killer whale as the god of the ocean (Repuun Kamuy). Killer whales feed on fish and whales, and sometimes drive whales into shallow waters, stranding them. For the Ainu people, whales are an important food source. They are grateful to and praised as the god of the ocean for bringing them whale meat, a valuable source of nutrition.
