[Giant Stag Beetle – The Beauty of Life]
The Japanese name "kuwagatamushi" (stag beetle) comes from the fact that its huge mandibles resemble the "kuwagata" (helmet crest) on a warrior's helmet. In English, French, other European languages, and Korean, the name is based on the mandibles, which resemble "deer antlers."
