[Lion – Pride –]
Until about 10,000 years ago, lions were the second most widely distributed large land mammals after humans. The Indian lion is endangered and disappeared from North Africa and Southwest Asia during prehistoric times. Lions have been considered symbols of power due to their appearance and ecology, and have been hunted since ancient times. The number of African lions has decreased by 30-50 percent in the past 20 years, and it is thought that they will probably never recover.
