It is known as the "Tree of Happiness" and the "Tree that Brings Happiness." The trunk branches out in many directions, with aerial roots that hang down toward the ground. These mature aerial roots have the power to break through asphalt and concrete. The flower's meaning is "health" because the vitality felt in these aerial roots. In Okinawa, the tree is believed to be inhabited by the spirit of a child known as the "Kijimunna," and it is said that if you become friends with a Kijimunna, your home will prosper and bring you much happiness.
