[Baobab – Connecting Life –]
Baobab trees live a long time, with many living for over 1000 years. Even in dry environments, they can store a large amount of water (10 tons) in their trunks, making them a valuable resource for people and animals. Fiber from the trunks is used to make baskets, bags, clothing and other ornaments, as well as paper and roofs for houses, and dead, hollow baobab trunks are also used as storage facilities for warehouses and other buildings.
