Collection: INTAGLIO
Intaglio is a sunken carving technique.
In contrast to intaglio, a piece with relief is called a cameo.
Both techniques have their own difficulties, but the most difficult thing about intaglio is that you have to carve the outlined area. The unevenness also has to be carved in the opposite direction. The part that protrudes the most when viewed from the front is the part that is carved the deepest. Of course, if you carve too much, it cannot be filled in. The fine unevenness is carved delicately from the back side of the glass.
We would like to introduce some of the works that feature intaglio.
