When the hero Perseus cut off the head of the monster Medusa (who turns anyone who looks at her to stone), her blood splashed on the rocks and from there the flying horse Pegasus was born. Pegasus, with his white and silver wings, carried the hero Perseus on his back and rescued Princess Andromeda from the sea demon Tiamat.
