【Eye: Amulet against Evil】
"Kaigan" (開眼) in Buddhism means to awaken to the truth of the Dharma, or to comprehend true principles.
It is often used as an amulet motif representing the human eye. It is said that placing eye motifs is effective as a way to ward off "the evil eye" (people's envy or jealousy) that brings misfortune.
