[Adan –Unbeatable–]
Pandanus: A member of the Pandanus genus in the family Pandanusaceae. It grows near the coasts of subtropical and tropical regions. As it grows, its thick branches spread out horizontally, from which aerial roots (prop roots) hang down (like an octopus) and reach the ground. These prop roots stabilize the tree and prevent it from being blown over by wind. Paul Gauguin painted Pandanus in Tahiti, and Tanaka Isson painted Pandanus on Amami Oshima.
